SRK pleads guilty on smoking charges

Jaipur, May 26 (ANI): Actor and co-owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Shah Rukh Khan has pleaded guilty of smoking in Sawai Man Singh stadium here during an IPL match between his team and Rajasthan Royals on April 8.

Khan's lawyer V.R. Bajwa filed an application in the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) court, seeking an exemption from his personal appearance in the court and said the actor was ready to pay the fine.

Magistrate Shilpa Sameer has posted the matter for June 21 and ruled that it is not required for Khan to be present during that hearing.

"Today from the side of Shah Rukh Khan there was an acceptance of crime application filed by his lawyers. Khan has filed his application through his lawyers, as he himself was not present there and I have objected that and I have demanded June 21 as the next date to file the reply," Nem Singh, a lawyer said.

Rajasthan Police on Tuesday had served a notice to Khan, asking him to appear before the ACJM court on a complaint filed by one Anand Singh Rathore on April 9, owner of Jaipur Cricket Academy, a private body. (ANI)
