Nepal political crisis looms over failure of interim government to draft new constitution

Kathmandu, May 25 (ANI): The Supreme Court of Nepal has rejected a proposal by the interim assembly to extend its term by three months giving it a chance to draft a new constitution.

The Supreme Court rejected the interim assembly's proposal saying that its term had already been extended four times, and, therefore, it could not stretch beyond the last deadline.

According to The BBC, the Supreme Court's decision could force the country into fresh elections.

The Constituent Assembly was elected for a two-year term when the country became a republic in 2008.ut political parties have repeatedly failed to draft a new constitution. (ANI)
