UP pension for BPl families

lucknow, May 23 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh government Wednesday announced an ambitious pension scheme to pay Rs.400 a month for families living below the poverty line.

 

Under the Rani laxmibai Pension Scheme, the money will be given in two six-monthly instalments.

 

The primary beneficiary would be a woman head of a family. If there is no woman, a man would be chosen to get the money.

 

In the current financial year, as many as 25.75 lakh poor families are likely to be reached through this scheme at a cost of Rs 1.289 crore.
