London, May 23 (ANI): The computer systems of British online billing giant WHMC has been hacked, exposing thousands of customers' credit card details on Twitter.
The hacking group named 'Underground Nazis', posed as the bosses of billing giant WHMCS, and duped the firm's web hosts into releasing top-secret information on the social media site.
According to The Sun, WHMCS customers' names, addresses and phone numbers were put on Twitter, sparking frenzy among the 500,000 registered users of the firm which is based in Milton Keynes, Bucks.
"It was a social engineering attack. The person was able to impersonate myself. They gained access to our client account, changed the email and requested a mailing of the access details," WHMCS boss Matt Pugh, was reported as saying.
Barclays was also caught up in the attack, with details of a company credit card being posted online.
A major FBI probe has been launched to investigate the matter. (ANI)
