David Bowie's son Duncan Jones to direct Ian Fleming biopic

Melbourne, May 21(ANI): Duncan Jones son David Bowie will soon be directing a film on the life of Ian Fleming, the creator of the famous British Spy James Bond.

Back in 2009, Jones made a big splash with his critically acclaimed sci-fi debut movie Moon, before going on to make Source Code with Jake Gyllenhaal.

This news was announced at the 65th Cannes Film Festival and Daily Telegraph quoted producer Stuart Fenegan calling it a "period action film".

Adding to it Jones said "Fleming lived through one of the most perilous periods in world history, in a position that allowed him a unique vantage point of all the players, all the stakes,"

"He witnesses true heroism first-hand. And he saw the evil men could do. Then, when the war ended, he went off to write fiction. The essential question for me is; where did Ian Fleming end and Bond begin?"

The untitled biopic will be based on Andrew Lycett's 'Ian Fleming, The Man Behind James Bond'

Currently Jones is in the process of casting for the film, which has been given full support of The Ian Fleming Estate.

The biopic is anticipated to go into production this year, making 2012 a big one for Bond fans with the next Bond movie Skyfall starring Daniel craig coming in November 22.(ANI)
