Strauss-Kahn faces probe over allegations of rape in Washington hotel

Paris, May 21 (ANI): A French prosecutor has opened a preliminary probe into allegations of rape in a Washington hotel by former Internal Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

The office of the prosecutor, in Lille in northern France, said that they are looking into the allegation that Strauss-Kahn may have been involved in a rape during a sex party in the hotel while he was the IMF chief, The New York Post reports.

Earlier this month, a Belgian prostitute had claimed that she was assaulted by Strauss-Kahn at Washington's W Hotel in December 2010.

Strauss-Kahn, via his lawyers, however, denied any violence and said he's the subject of a public 'lynching campaign'.

"Strauss-Kahn absolutely contests having committed the slightest violence of any nature, and notes that the declarations made by the young women are contradictory," his French lawyers Frederique Beaulieu and Richard Malka had said. (ANI)
