Inter-state bodybuilding competition held in Tripura

Agartala, May 21 (ANI): The 37th edition of the annual inter state bodybuilding and weightlifting championship, held recently in the state capital attracted over 250 contestants, who were rated on different parameters like physique size, symmetry and muscle definition.

They competed in different genres like bodybuilding, model search, weightlifting and arm wrestling.

The event provides aspiring body builders a platform to showcase their talent at bigger events.

"From this competition, state level players are selected for national events and later they are chosen for the international events," Kumar Debnath, one of the organizers and a former body builder informed.

The number of contestants nearly doubled from last year and many have chosen it as their career.

"Such competitions provide a platform to bodybuilders. We hope more such competitions are organized not just annually but every six months," said Pijush Chakraborty, a participant.

The event was organized by Reshambagan Athletic Club in co-operation with the Tripura Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association to motivate youth to take up a healthy lifestyle. (ANI)
