Man U's Ferdinand blames Fergie for Euro 2012 selection snub

London, May 17 (ANI): Manchester United striker Rio Ferdinand has blamed club manager Alex Ferguson for being axed from the England's Euro 2012 squad.

Ferguson, however, said Ferdinand would not be able to cope with the demands of playing games in such a short space of time at this summer's tournament.

"You play something like a game every four days at the Euros, and Rio couldn't do that," the Daily Mirror quoted Ferguson, as saying, who had previously talked up Ferdinand's chances of going to Euro 2012.

United defender, Ferdinand revealed his disappointment when he tweeted, "Absolutely loved playing for England....to say I'm gutted is an understatement of the highest order."

Ferdinand was unhappy with Ferguson's comments, as he believed that that might have ultimately influenced the England boss Roy Hodgson to leave him out. (ANI)
