Nigerian arrested with cocaine in Delhi

New Delhi, May 17 (IANS) A 32-year-old Nigerian was arrested for drug trafficking and cocaine worth over Rs. 1 crore seized from him, police said Thursday.

Sunday Joseph was arrested Tuesday night from near Dilli Haat, Pitampura in west Delhi where he had come to deliver cocaine to one of his clients. A total of 103 grams of cocaine worth Rs. 1.03 crore was recovered from his possession, said a police officer.

Joseph has 30 sisters and 20 brothers back home in Nigeria as his father married thrice. He came in contact with an Indian woman in Lagos and he married her.

He first came to India in April 2009 but returned home after four months. He returned in September 2011 and was staying in south Delhi's Munirka with his wife since.

He tried his hand at exporting readymade garments and artificial jewellery but could not earn enough to support his huge family back home. So he started working with other Nigerian drug peddlers in the city, said police.
