Maken sanctions ex-gratia assistance of Rs. five lakh to archery player

New Delhi, May 17 (ANI): Union Sports Minister Ajay Maken has sanctioned ex-gratia assistance of Rs. five lakh to Nisha Rani Dutta, an archery player from National Welfare Fund for sportspersons.

Dutta, is living in indigent condition. The Ministry came to know through a news item that Dutta, an archery player, who has played in National and International archery competitions, was forced to sell her bow to repair her mud house.

Taking cognizance of her poor financial position, Maken has sanctioned this ex-gratia. nder the Scheme of National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports provides lump sum financial assistance to outstanding sportspersons of the past, who are facing financial distress.
