Amy Winehouse 'freaked out' by Adele's success

Washington, May 17 (ANI): Amy Winehouse, who ruled the airwaves, before Adele peaked the music chart, was upset with the 24-year-old's increasing popularity.

Winehouse, who passed away in her London home on July 23, 2011, was eager to record a follow-up to her 2006 smash Back to Black.

"We spent a little time together and talked about it," Us magazine quoted Winehouse's friend and longtime collaborator Mark Ronson, as telling The Village Voice on May 9.

"But, what little time we had, well, it was tense. She was in a bad state, God knows why.

"I think that the Adele thing had Amy freaked out. She liked her, but Adele's success was making Amy feel upset, competitive, restless.

"Anyway, we lost touch briefly. And before she and I could really start the process of beginning a new album, it was too late," " Ronson added.

Both Adele and Winehouse had attended the famed BRIT School as teens, which offer vocational training for the performing arts. (ANI)
