Women take 5 days to single out that ' little black dress'

London, May 16 (ANI): A typical woman takes an astonishing 30 hours to pick out that perfect little black dress, according to a survey.

Researchers say that translates to five days of shopping, for six hours a day, the Daily Mail reported.

However, the survey revealed that women don't wear the dress more than two times despite putting in so much of effort in picking it up because they worry about being seen in the same outfit too many times or that the dress will lose that 'special feeling' if worn too many times, the Daily Mail reported.

Eight out of ten women who were questioned admitted that they own one and that their wardrobe would be incomplete without the item.

And apparently half of those who don't are still looking for the coveted piece.

The online survey, which included 2,000 women, revealed that most of the women started on with their hunt for the dress when they were young.

More than two thirds bought their first LBD between the ages of 18 and 24.

Thereafter they held on to it for around 11 years, waiting for a suitable special occasion to show it off.

The poll further claimed that 91 per cent of all little black dresses were never washed or dry-cleaned.

Women in the UK spend an average of 125 pounds on their dress and 44 per cent admit that the amount can be tripled when the cost of matching accessories also figures in.

Elaborating more on the survey results, Susan Fermor, spokesman for Dr Beckmann, the laundry specialists who commissioned the research admitted that the little black dress has become a symbol of fashion.

"The little black dress is a well-established fashion icon," she said.

"Yet most are worn just a couple of times and remain unwashed and unused in the back of wardrobes."

"For many women just owning a little black dress and knowing it is there to be called upon if it is required is enough to justify the expense," she added. (ANI)
