Agartala, May 16 (ANI): The decline of militancy in the state has given a fillip to development activities in the region, transforming Tripura capital Agartala into one of the busiest towns of the northeast.

Hundreds of vehicles carrying goods move through Agartala, as a lot of interstate and cross border trade takes place in the region, which is seen as the gateway to Southeast Asia.

An excellent network of roads has facilitated this trade with the Centre having pumped in huge funds to improve connectivity in the state.

The residents are pleased with the development, as it has reduced their travel time.

" The roads are of good quality and connectivity has improved. We appreciate this as traveling time has reduced," said Anup Ghosh, a resident from the city.he past few years have witnessed a surge in traffic.

The state has built two bus terminuses at Chandrapur and Radhanagar, in the city, to prevent overcrowding besides resuming city bus service after 22 years.

According to reports, the number of daily passengers has increased and the people are no more apprehensive about traveling long distances.

" Earlier people, who came from distant areas, could not reach their offices on time, but the city bus service has helped enormously. To cater to the increasing population the roads have been broadened and improved quality wise and it is of great help to the people," said Jyoti Prabha Dutta, another local.

A decade ago, people were scared to move around freely on the roads of Tripura. However the things are changing fast.

The roads are busy all day and the numbers of vehicles is increasing with every passing day. Employment opportunities, too, have increased in the region.

"Tripura roads are of high quality. Auto service is cheap and fast. This has also created huge scope for employment in this state," said Sanjit Kumar Loadh, an auto driver in the city.

Today a large number of vehicles in Agartala run on CNG including the state buses and privately owned vehicles. Agartala was the fourth city in the country where CNG was introduced. (ANI)

I firmly hope Tripura govt sets its eye quickly on economy buildup centric development and invite private investment from India and outside countries for infrastructure development in different sectors (healthcare, education, retail, communication - An world class international Airport is urgent need of the hour now)!

For industries a special thrust need to be given to set up world class IT parks, Special economic zones, manufacturing hubs ..

A competitive (with best in the world) approach is the only way forward instead boasting of minor achievements (of course they are the base on which consolidation work need to be done) !!
