London, May 14 (ANI): The World Boxing Association (WBA) has stripped Anthony Mundine of his interim super welterweight title after he failed to undertake a mandatory fight against title-holder American Austin Trout in Panama.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Mundine has previously turned down a world title fight against champion Trout following which the WBA scheduled a purse bid at its Panama headquarters last month but no one from the Mundine's camp appeared.

Mundine, who turns 37 next week, said he was seeking a three-fight deal that would lead him to the big names, including Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. (ANI)
