Abbas to receive Israeli PM's envoy in Ramallah

Ramallah, Sat, 12 May 2012 ANI

Ramallah, May 12 (Xinhua-ANI): An high-level Israeli envoy will meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Saturday afternoon to hand him a letter from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a Palestinian official said.

The letter is a response to a message sent earlier by Abbas, in which he outlined the Palestinian vision for resuming the stalled peace talks.

The meeting between Abbas and Yitzhak Molcho, the representative of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is the highest-level meeting between Palestinian and Israeli officials since the peace negotiations stopped in 2010.

The Palestinians basically want Israel to recognize the two- state solution and withdrew its forces and settlers out of lands it occupied in 1967.

Yasser Abed Rabbo, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization's Executive Committee, said he did not expect a breakthrough from the Israeli response. (Xinhua-ANI)
