New Yorker celebrates Obama's gay marriage announcement in new cover

Washington, May 12 (ANI): The New Yorker is celebrating President Obama's public endorsement of gay marriage this week with a cover depicting the White House with rainbow-coloured columns.

The cover, entitled "Spectrum of Light," will grace next week issue of the weekly magazine.

Artist Bob Staake wrote on the magazine's web site Friday that he was honoured to mark the occasion.

"It's a celebratory moment for our country, and that's what I tried to capture. (I don't especially like those rainbow colors, but they are what they are-I had to use them.) I wanted to celebrate the bravery of the President's statement-a statement long overdue-but all the more appreciated in this political year. We are on the right side of history," the Politico quoted him as writing. (ANI)
