10 pc Brits leave dirty plates in sink for a week
London, May 11 (ANI): One in ten people in Britain leave dirty plates in the sink for a week, a new study has revealed.
Additionally, more than half (53 percent) say that they go to bed and leave the washing up to fester overnight.
Their filthy kitchen habits have been revealed in a One Poll survey of 2,000 people for cleaning expert LimeLite.
More than a third (34 percent) admit that they only give their kitchen a thorough deep clean once a year - a spring clean, for Christmas, or if they have guests staying overnight.
Even when it's had a thorough clean, more than a quarter of them (26 percent) admit that their kitchen is still somewhere between "dirty" and "not as clean as it could be".
Alarmingly, a quarter of those who were surveyed said that they take less than ten minutes each time to give the kitchen a "thorough" clean, and a third of the nation only cleans the kitchen once or twice per week.
"Our kitchens are the centre of grease and grime in the home and let's face it, the most difficult of all cleaning jobs," the Sun quoted LimeLite spokesman, Stuart Yates, as saying.
"As a nation, the UK is surprisingly less keen on cleaning its kitchens than most other rooms in the house, yet it is the place where most harmful bacteria can be found. We're either very lazy or just plain foolish.
"We were shocked at just how infrequently a considerable number of householders actually give their kitchens a thorough deep clean - just once a year in some cases.
"Pretty alarming when you think about it. Let's just hope they don't invite us round for dinner any time soon," Yates added. (ANI)
