16 die in flood in Afghan province

Kabul, May 11 (IANS) Sixteen people were killed and 20 went missing after floods ravaged Afghanistan's Takhar province, an official said.

 

Heavy rains and flood took place in Takhar province, 245 km north of capital Kabul.

 

 

"The heavy rains continued for several hours which caused heavy flood. Sixteen people were killed and 20 are missing in Mandara village," Mustafa Rasouli, an official, told Xinhua.

 

The flood washed away several houses and destroyed farmland, he said.
