Delhi sees season's hottest day, rain likely Friday

New Delhi, May 10 (IANS) Delhi saw the season's hottest day Thursday with the mercury soaring to three notches above average at 42.6 degrees Celsius. However, respite from the scorching heat was in sight with the met department forecasting a rainy Friday with squalls.
The minimum temperature Thursday was recorded two notches above average at 27.4 degrees, while humidity wavered between a high and low of 58 and 21 percent.
"It was blistering hot today which I realised when I stopped my bike at the traffic signal. The heat was such that I felt roasted," said 27-year-old Anjani Kumar.
An India Meteorological Department official said Friday would be partly cloudy and rain and squalls are expected in some areas.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 40 and 29 degrees, respectively.
