An apple a day 'could help keep strokes away'

London, May 9 (ANI): A new study into strokes and heart attacks has claimed that an apple a day really can keep the doctor away.

However, oranges or even onions can ward off these life-threatening conditions too.

Scientists at America's Harvard Medical School discovered a chemical called rutin, found in many fruits and vegetables, can prevent blood clots leading to heart conditions.

Tests on mice found rutin was "the most potently anti-thrombotic compound that we ever tested".

Human trials will now take place. (ANI)
