New Delhi, May 8 (IANS) The central government Tuesday moved the Supreme Court to withdraw its petition for reviewing the 2G verdict holding that all natural resources should be allocated only through an auction.

A letter was filed in the apex court registry stating that "the petitioners do not want to press the review petition and will be praying for the withdrawal of the review petition".

"Since the matter is fixed for May 10, 2012, this letter may kindly be circulated before the honourable chief justice to constitute the bench at an appropriate date and time to avoid disruption of benches and any inconvenience to the learned judges," the letter said.

"In view of the facts that limited notice has been issued, the petitioners do not want to press the review petition and will be praying for the withdrawal of the review petition," the letter said.

The letter was signed by D.S. Mehra, advocate-on-record for the government.

The hearing of the case may not be held Thursday, as scheduled earlier.
