London, May 3 (ANI): A slice of Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding cake is set to go under the hammer.

The boxed fruit cake, supplied to online auction house PFC Auctions by an anonymous seller, was among 650 pieces of wedding cake given to guests at the afternoon reception of the royal wedding held at Buckingham Palace last April.

The cake, designed by Fiona Cairnes, comes in a presentation tin commissioned and designed by Peter Windett and Sally Mangum, the Daily Mail reported.

It is accompanied by a printed compliments slip from Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, as well as the 16 page Order of Service from Westminster Abbey which includes the vows, hymns, prayers and blessing from the Wedding.

It is believed to be the first piece of William and Kate's wedding cake to appear at auction, and has a starting bid of 100 pounds.

Two other slices of royal wedding cake are also set to be sold that the same auction - a piece of the Royal wedding cake from the 1981 marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, and a slice of the original wedding cake from the marriage of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips on 14 November 1973.

Both pieces of cake are reported to be incredibly well preserved, the former double wrapped in waxed paper, the outer wrapper with pierced tracery, and still in the original printed white presentation box. The latter is in the original sealed and unopened white box.

The slices are accompanied by the printed ceremonial programmes for the wedding, and with the piece of cake from Princess Anne's wedding the buyer will receive silver printed wedding breakfast cards, the official invitation, two tickets and the order of service.

"They are lovely pieces of Royal memorabilia, and rarely seen on the market as these personal items are only gifted to close friends and family who attend the weddings," a spokesman from PFC Auctions said.

"The Royal section of our auction is particularly strong and interest in the Royal Family is sky high so we are hopeful they will achieve around 800 pounds to 1,000 pounds each," the spokesman added. (ANI)
