PPP, PML-N in verbal war, again

Islamabad , Mon, 30 Apr 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Apr 30 (ANI): The clash between the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) continues to hog the limelight, after leaders of both parties accused each other of being corrupt and of robbing the nation's wealth.

Continuing his tirade for the second consecutive day, Interior Minister Rehman Malik took on the Sharif brothers again at a press conference, by accusing them of laundering millions of public funds.

According to the Daily Times, Malik claimed to have evidence against Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif of embezzling public funds worth 32 million dollars, and said he would present it against the PML-N leaders in court, within a week, to help unearth their corruption, adding that if Nawaz and Shahbaz had the "courage" they could challenge his claims.

Reacting to Malik's accusations, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar, said the media should revisit history to verify the minister's claims. He called Malik a 'swindler'.

"The minister himself is a culprit since he did not take action in the last four years if his allegations are true," the paper quoted Nisar, as saying.

Nisar said that Malik was crossing limits by levelling false allegations against the PML-N. He questioned why Malik was bringing up an issue of corruption after 18 years. He claimed that the brothers had repaid loans worth Rs 40.9 million to the banks. (ANI)
