Bye-polls for 27 seats in eight states on June 12

New Delhi, April 24 (IANS) The Election Commission Tuesday announced bye-polls for 27 seats in eight states to be held June 12.

 

Counting will be on June 15, a statement said here.

 

According to a statement issued here, vacancies have to be filled to a parliamentary constituency and assemblies in different states.

 

The eight states are Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.

 

In Andhra Pradesh, bye-polls in Nellore parliamentary constituency and 18 assembly seats will be held together.

 

Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in the bye-polls, it said.

 

The model code of conduct has come into effect, the statement added.
