Saeed rejects Pak govt's request to maintain low profile

Islamabad , Tue, 24 Apr 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Apr 24(ANI): Jamaat-ud- Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has rejected the Pakistan government's 'request' to limit his public appearances and activities.

Saeed's aides said government agencies had 'advised' him to refrain from attending public rallies, The Express Tribune reports.

They added that the government gave the suggestion because it feared that his continued appearances might provoke a hostile reaction from the US.

They, however, said Saeed was adamant and would not accept any such demand.

Punjab government spokesperson Senator Pervez Rasheed, however, said he was not aware of any such request made by the government.

Saeed is planning to address a rally organized by the Defence of Pakistan Council (DPC) in Quetta later this week to mobilise people against the possible reopening of NATO supply routes that have been shut after the deadly November 26 airstrike. (ANI)
