Delhi,Crime/Disaster/Accident, Sun, 22 Apr 2012 IANS

New Delhi, April 22 (IANS) A Gurgaon-based couple was arrested Sunday for assaulting a doctor at Lok Nayak Hospital in central Delhi, police said.

According to police, John and Mohnissa, were enraged when intern Vandana Kataria was unable to improve the condition of their son, Joshua, who had fainted from an asthma attack during an Indian Premier League match at the nearby Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium.

The couple started abusing the doctor when the condition of their child didn't improve, following which, Mohnissa slapped Kataria.

"Doctors present in the emergency referred the boy to the hospital's pediatric department. An intern, Vandana Kataria, started giving treatment to the boy but when his condition didn't improve, the parents got furious," a police official said.

At this, the hospital staff called police and on the complaint of the chief medical officer, the two were arrested.

Two days ago, another group of people attacked doctors at the same hospital after a 16-year-old girl died of cardiac arrest.
