Hyundai enhances supply of its diesel powered i20 and Verna

Delhi,Business/Economy, Mon, 16 Apr 2012 IANS

New Delhi, April 16 (IANS) Automobile manufacturer Hyundai Monday said it is enhancing the supply of its hatchback i20 diesel and sedan Verna diesel models.

"Increased supply will ease the waiting period substantially. We expect the waiting period for the diesel Verna to drop from six months to two to three months and for the new iGen i20 to about a month," said Arvind Saxena, director, marketing and sales, Hyundai Motor India.

According to the company, the supply of both the diesel variants will go up by almost 50 percent from the existing 7,000 units per month to 10,500 units per month.

"The decision to increase supply of diesel cars follows the Union Budget which left the tax structure on passenger cars untouched," the company said in a statement.

The company said that it has been able to enhance supply by ramping up diesel engine imports from south Korea.

In 2011 the company's domestic sales grew by 4.8 percent at 373,709 units from 356,717 units in 2010.
