New Delhi, Apr 13 (ANI): The United States Embassy in India on Friday apologized over Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan's detention at the New York airport.

Speaking to mediapersons here, US Embassy spokesperson Peter Vrooman said: "Please allow me on behalf of our diplomatic mission in India topologize if Mr. Shah Rukh Khan experienced an inconvenience or delay yesterday in White Plains, New York, on his way to Yale University."

Emphasizing on the efforts made by Homeland Securities to put in place systems that can help address circumstances faced by Shah Rukh Khan or any other traveler, Vrooman further said that one can resolve such issues through Department of Homeland Security Traveler Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP).

"If you or anyone you know have been selected for secondary screening on multiple occasions you can use the Department of Homeland Securityraveler Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP) to resolve issues such as misidentification. DHS TRIP is a single point of contact for individuals who have inquiries or seek resolution regarding difficulties they experienced during their travel screening at transportation hubs," said Vrooman.

Earlier in the day, India had expressed its displeasure over the SRK's detention, stating that this kind of repetition needs looking into and more than an apology will have to take place.
