UNSC to mull on observer mission in Syria

United Nations, April 13 (IANS) The UN Security Council (UNSC) will begin consultation on a draft resolution concerning the deployment of an observer mission in Syria "as swiftly as possible".

 

US Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the Council this month, said this here Thursday, Xinhua reported.

 

"We expect we will begin deliberations on a draft resolution as early as this afternoon," Rice told reporters after a close-door briefing by Kofi Annan, joint UN-Arab League envoy for Syria, to the 15-member Council via video-link Thursday.
