Obama turns down chance to duet with John Legend

Washington, Wed, 11 Apr 2012 ANI

Washington, Apr 11 (ANI): Barack Obama said at a recent fundraiser that John Legend, who was performing at the Florida event, had asked the President to join him for a duet, but he refused.

The US president's singing had become famous after his impromptu rendition of Al Green's 'Let's Stay Together' at Harlem's Apollo Theatre in January had gone viral and also ended up as a ringtone.

He followed it up a few weeks later by joining crooners in the blues classic 'Sweet Home Chicago', at an event in the White House during Black History Month.

It seems singer-songwriter Legend was banking on that past when he asked the President to join in, but was turned down with a "not tonight".

"The outstanding John Legend is in the house," Politico quoted Obama as saying at the fundraiser.

"John wanted me to sing a duet. I said no. Not tonight. But maybe if you practice a little bit," he said. (ANI)
