Malik sends Rs10 billion defamatory notices to Shahbaz Sharif, Mushahidullah

Lahore, Apr 8(ANI): Pakistan Interior minister Rehman Malik has issued legal notices worth 10 billion rupees to Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif and PML N central Secretary Information Senator Mushahidullah for issuing defamatory remarks against the Minister, sources have said.

Malik's lawyer M Azhar Chaudhry confirmed that legal notices bearing signatures of both, Rehman Malik and M Azhar Chaudhry have been served to Shahbaz Sharif and Senator Mushahidullah, The Express Tribune reports.

Both respondents have been asked to tender an unconditional apology to his client within 10 days otherwise Malik reserves the right to file a civil suit and claim damages worth 10 billion rupees.

Sharif and Mushahidullah allegedly made references, which Malik and his lawyer believe were defamatory, during a press conference on March 14, 2012 and through statements and discussions in subsequent television talk shows.

They alleged that Malik, in his capacity as Interior Minister, had withdrawn funds from accounts of the Intelligence Bureau. (ANI)
