London, Apr 7(ANI): Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said club captain Robin Van ersie is a worthy contender to become the player of the season at the end of Premier League eason.
Wenger believes Van Persie's consistent goal hitting form this season makes him the best player n the Premier League.
Van Persie has hit 33 goals in all competitions for the Gunners this term after remaining free of he injuries that wrecked his previous campaigns.
"His focus has always been very great. But this is the first year he has been consistently on the ield, and that explains why he deserves to be Player of the Year," The Sun quoted Wenger, as aying.
Dutchman Van Persie will lead Arsenal tomorrow at home to Manchester City, who are said to e lining up a big-money swoop for him in the summer.
But Wenger insisted: "Van Persie's not at the end of his contract despite what people might hink. He has one year to go and I don't think it's the best subject before this weekend's ame." (ANI)
