Omar Abdullah does not have "many expectations" on Zardari's India visit

Jammu, Sat, 07 Apr 2012 ANI

Jammu, Apr 7 (ANI): Before Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari's arrival in India on a day-long visit on Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said one should not have many expectations on his visit.

"We don't have many expectations. It's a system. I think we ourselves weaken the system when we think that one meeting would solve all the problems. We only hope that this continuous dialogue process continues between the two countries", Omar Abdullah told media here.

Abdullah further said: "One of the things is to talk to each other (between the people on the two side of LoC) and second, to replace the barter system of trade with other financial terms or letter of credits should be a mechanism for trading".

During his visit, Zardari will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his official residence before proceeding to Jaipur and Ajmer. At Ajmer, he will offer prayers at the shrine of the Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

Zardari had earlier visited the shrine in 2005, with his wife, former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Though Zardari's visit is personal in nature, it is bound to have strong ramifications for the two nations. (ANI)
