Chris Brown attack was liberation, says RiRi

London, Apr 5 (ANI): Rihanna, who was attacked by Chris Brown when he was her boyfriend in 2009, has described the notorious episode as a "liberation".

It comes amid reported claims that she is rebelling against her management who have banned her from seeing the 22-year-old.

The 24-year-old singer was left bruised and battered by the infamous attack by the fellow singer three years ago and a photograph of her injuries widely publicised.

However, she said in an interview with the US edition of Elle magazine that the episode had helped her open up to the public.

"It gave me guns. I was like, well, f***. They [the public] know more about me than I want them to know. It's embarrassing. But that was my opening. That was my liberation, my moment of bring it," the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

There has been speculation over a possible reconciliation between the pair, who broke up after the attack in 2009.

They have since collaborated on two tracks and been seen together at a string of showbusiness events, while last year Rihanna allowed the conditions of Brown's restraining order to be relaxed.

The couple had been together for two years prior to the incident, which resulted in Brown being sentenced to 180 hours community service and five years probation.

But Rihanna has refused to bow to critics who say she should avoid all contact with him.

"People end up wasting their time on the blogs ranting away, and that's all right. Because tomorrow I'm still going to be the same person. I'm still going to do what I want to do," she said.

Meanwhile reports suggested Rihanna had ignored orders from her management team to keep away from Brown. (ANI)
