Union Minister Virbhadra Singh sends legal notice to Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi, Sun, 01 Apr 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Apr.1 (ANI): Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Virbhadra Singh on Sunday sent a legal notice to civil society activist Arvind Kejriwal, asking him to give an unconditional apology for naming him as one of the 14 Cabinet Ministers who were corrupt or had a criminal past.

Emphatically stating that he had a spotless reputation as a politician and a minister over the last five decades, Singh said Kejriwal, a key member of Team Anna (Hazare's) anti-graft movement should apologise immediately for his comments, or face legal consequences.

"No one has ever levelled an allegation against me except for the BJP government of Himachal Pradesh led by Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal," he said.

Singh said he had gone through reports in which Kejriwal has been "credited with" giving a list of 14 ministers against whom charges of corruption need to be investigated.

"You have also included my name in that list. However, it is evident that your information in this regard in sketchy and founded on inexact information," Singh said.

On Tuesday, Singh had rubbished allegations of corruption against him by Team Anna.

Singh, a senior Congress leader from Himachal Pradesh, has dared Kejriwal to produce clips of a film in which he purportedly is seeking a bribe from a senior IAS officer.

He said that a court case related to the matter is presently sub-judice and charges have not been framed.

He said that any comment on the matter is not only premature but also prejudiced.

Singh has already filed a defamation suit against former Congress minister Vijay Singh Mankotia, who released the audio CD of the alleged bribe offer. (ANI)
