Ghaziabad, March 29 (IANS) Three underpasses and three foot overbridges would be constructed at major intersections on National Highway-24, the artery connecting trans Hindon areas with Ghaziabad and Noida, to make travelling to Ghaziabad hassle free, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has said.

The ambitious programme was disclosed by the GDA - Vice Chairman Santosh Yadav to media persons here in a press conference during which a presentation on ways to improve the traffic was demonstrated. Yadav said the plan was prepared after a team of officers conducted an extensive survey on ways to ease the traffic on National Highway (NH)-24 and other vital routes of the city.

Yadav announced that three under passes would be constructed at CISF, Chhijarsi and Kala pathhar on the NH-24 in addition to three already operational under passes at ABES Engineering College connecting to Greater Noida, Shipra Mall and at Hindon Cut near UP Gate on this very important road connecting Delhi with the upcoming new townships in National Capital Region (NCR).

Three foot over bridges (FOB) would also be constructed at Khoda colony and Vijay Nagar on NH-24 and one at Collectorate on Hapur road in the city. The detailed Project Report (DPR) would be submitted to the authority within a month and construction work would be initiated within next two months, he announced.

In addition, the service lanes along side NH-24 would be strengthened to commute freely between Indiapuram areas of Ghaziabad and Noida areas, Yadav added.

To streamline functioning of the authority, he announced implementation of the citizen charter in which the maps and outlay plans from 100 metre plot size to 300 metre plot size would be approved within a day. Payment to the authority would be streamlined by allowing the allottees to make payment of instalments in three banks directly without coming to the authority.

He named the banks - Vijaya Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) and Punjab National Bank (PNB). These banks are equipped with the CBS through internet, he added.
