Ryder set to play in IPL after four weeks of self-imposed hiatus

Wellington, Thu, 29 Mar 2012 ANI

Wellington, Mar 29 (ANI): Stylish Kiwi batsman Jesse Ryder is poised to end his month long self-imposed pause from cricket, to play in the lucrative Indian Premier League for the Pune Warriors.

He will rejoin the Pune Warriors for the second year of his contract, worth 150,000 dollars per season.

It was announced on Thursday morning that his manager, Aaron Klee, and clinical psychologist, Karen Nimmo, would accompany Ryder during his stay in the sub-continent.immo has expressed confidence about Ryder's preparedness to make a comeback to cricket.

"Jesse has been making steady progress over the past few weeks. Cricket is Jesse's job and what's he's good at, so I was keen to see him return as soon as practical, but only with the right structures in place," Stuff.co.nz quoted Nimmo, as saying.

Klee has prepared a comprehensive support structure, and is in regular dialogue with the Pune Warriors' management to keep a track on Ryder.

'"Karen is traveling to India the day after Jesse and will continue her work with him there while I'll be going over a little later to carry that work on. The extent and expense Jesse is going to in getting this right is significant. The IPL presents challenges and opportunities - no stone is being left unturned in our planning," Klee said.

"'The franchise has been wonderful and Jesse is desperate to perform on and off the field, and get his career back on track," he added.

Ryder hasn't played since the second ODI against South Africa in Napier on February 29, after which he and teammate Doug Bracewell were handed one-match ban for drinking while injured. (ANI)
