SP, JD (U) demand army chief's sacking over media leak of letter to PM

New Delhi, Wed, 28 Mar 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Mar.28 (ANI): Leaders of the Samajwadi Party and the Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday said that army chief General V.K.Singh should be sacked for the media leak of his March 12 letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The Biju Janata Dal joined and the Left Front joined them in demanding strict action on the letter leak, saying whosoever was responsible for it, should not be spared.

"It's a matter of grave concern. The Army Chief's conduct is doubtful. Now, that he is getting involved in the controversy, maybe he is trying to pass the buck," said Janata Dal (United) MP Shivanand Tiwari.

"V.K. Singh should not make confidential issues public. Why didn't he raise this when he became the chief," said Samajwadi Party leader Mohan Singh.

Another Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav demanded that General Singh should be sacked immediately.

"This letter should not have been leaked. The responsibility must be fixed. If General Singh is responsible for the leak, then General Singh should be sacked immediately. His daily interaction with media is not good," said Yadav. (ANI)
