Muamba urges Bolton teammates to get to Wembley for him

London, Thu, 22 Mar 2012 ANI

London, Mar 22 (ANI): Footballer Fabrice Muamba, who suffered a cardiac arrest during his club's FA Cup fixture against Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane on Saturday, has asked his Bolton teammates to get to Wembley for him.

Bolton was considering pulling out of the FA Cup as a mark of respect to Muamba, who is still in intensive care at the London Chest Hospital.

The midfielder is making an amazing recovery, and has asked boss Owen Coyle to go back to White Hart Lane and beat Spurs to claim a place in the -semi-finals.

Their abandoned quarterfinal was rearranged for Tuesday after Muamba gave his blessing to his teammates to get back to playing, The Daily Star reports.

Chairman Phil Gartside consulted his players amid fears that Coyle's squad would not be in a fit state to return to the scene of Muamba's collapse.

Bolton postponed their Tuesday's trip to Aston Villa and is considering doing the same with Saturday's clash with Blackburn. But it will go ahead following consultations with Muamba and his family.

Coyle said: "We spoke as a group this morning and I talked with Fabrice's family last night. Fabrice's father Marcel and fiancee Shauna were keen that we fulfill our fixtures. Once the players knew this, there was no doubt in our mind that we would play the matches." (ANI)
