Vettori advises Kiwi players to take inspiration from their win in Hobart

Wellington, Mar 21(ANI): Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has urged his team mates to think of December's victory against Australia in Hobart, and take inspiration from it to beat the South Africans in the final Test in Wellington.

The Black Caps are trailing 1-0 in the three match Test series after getting thrashed at the hands of the Proteas by nine-wickets in the second Test match in Hamilton.

The memory of their win in Hobart is still fresh in their minds, giving them hope of bouncing back in the Test series.Kiwis' seven-run win in Hobart, the first on Australian shores in 26 years, came after a comprehensive defeat in Brisbane, which is the same margin as the Proteas inflicted on the Black Caps at Seddon Park.

Vettori, who missed the Hobart heroics due to injury, has said that the win showed they could bounce back quickly, and how they played in the final Test would make or break their season.

"If we can scrap back in this Test match, then it's been overall a very successful summer. If not, then I think it will be remembered for that (Hamilton) loss," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Vettori, as saying.

"It's really important the guys understand that and the guys have done it in the past so this is an opportunity to try and do it again," he said.

Vettori believes Wellington's green pitch would suit the Kiwi bowlers, and they have always enjoyed playing on this pitch.

"Going back to Hobart and seeing how green that wicket was and how well the guys performed I think, if anything, it'll even the sides up," he said.

"We enjoy playing on this wicket and we're hoping that we can turn it around in this Test," he added. (ANI)
