Bolton manager Coyle backs 'fighter' Muamba to make full recovery

London, Wed, 21 Mar 2012 ANI

London, Mar 21(ANI): Bolton Wanderer's manager Owen Coyle has said midfielder Fabrice Muamba's fighting spirit will help him make a full recovery from the cardiac arrest he suffered during club's FA Cup fixture against Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

Muamba remains in intensive care at the London Chest Hospital, but Coyle commended the great steps he has taken.

Coyle, while addressing the media outside London Chest Hospital on Tuesday, said: "Two things Fabrice has on his side are he is a fit young man and the life that he has had. He has had to fight every step of the way along his young journey. These are two things that I'm sure will stand him in good stead."

When asked whether the doctors expected Muamba to make a full recovery, Coyle said: "It has happened before. Every case is on its own merit."

The former England Under-21 international's condition is reported to have improved, which has come as sigh of relief for his family, and everyone praying for his health.

Coyle revealed he had a brief conversation with Muamba in intensive care, and these are really good signs.

"I've managed to get to see him myself, as have close family members. I had a conversation. A few words exchanged [although] that will remain private as you will understand, which is a great sign," The Telegraph quoted Coyle, as saying.

"I must stress it's still very early in the process - Fabrice has still a long way to go. But there are encouraging signs. We think that's really positive as we move forward from that point," he added. (ANI)
