Amritsar, Mar 20 (ANI): Farmers blocked railway tracks in Punjab's Amritsar District on Tuesday following the death of a farmer.

Kisan Sangharsh Samiti General Secretary Satinder Singh Satana said the protest would continue till the government officials spoke with them.

"The farmers will carry on this rail blockade till our immediate demands and the earlier ones are met. Among them, we want that his family should get 5, 00,000 rupees, a government job for his family member. We also want all government and non-government loans to be cancelled. Till some government official comes here to talk to us, we shall continue with our protest here," he said.

Jagjit Singh Totiya died due to dehydration during a protest rally in New Delhi on March 18.

Protesting farmers are also demanding a share in profit and a daily allowance of 250 rupees under the rural employment schemes of the government.
