Sriprakash Jaiswal urges Samajwadi Party to curb violence in UP

Kanpur/ Ropar, Mar 9 (ANI): Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal has urged the newly elected Samajwadi Party (SP) to curb violence in Uttar Pradesh.

 

Jaiswal was commenting come after the Samajwadi Party's victory celebrations resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy in the state's Bhim Nagar District.

 

Condemning the incident, Jaiswal said Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav should fulfil his promise of maintaining law and order in the state.

 

"Whatever that is happening should be condemned, and the Samajwadi Party should stop this violence. Akhilesh Yadav should ensure that his promises are fulfilled," Jaiswal told media here.

 

In another incident, Samajwadi Party supporters clashed with some television cameramen in Jhansi on Tuesday during which their equipments was broken.

 

The violence started after Samajwadi Party candidate Chandrapal Singh Yadav was found trailing by over 4000 votes against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Krishna Pal Singh Rajpoot.

 

Supporters of Yadav pelted stones and held 15 video journalists and cameramen hostage at a counting centre in Jhansi after they captured the workers creating a ruckus. Some mediapersons were also reported to be injured in the incident. (ANI)
