Nancy Dell'Olio greets Prince Harry at Jamaican State Ball

London, Mar 8 (ANI): Nancy Dell'Olio, who managed to wrangle an invitation to the State Dinner in Jamaica at King's House while she is holidaying in the Caribbean, joined Prince Harry at the Jamaican State Ball.

 

Wearing an off-the-shoulder purple gown, the 50-year-old property lawyer renewed her acquaintance with the young royal, at the black-tie event, hosted by the Governor-General, Sir Patrick Allen.

 

The pair first met at the Dover Street Arts Club in London's Mayfair last month.

 

"She says Harry had a twinkle in his eye when he met her at the Arts Club in Mayfair recently," the Daily Mail quoted a friend of Dell'Olio's as saying.

 

Ahead of her visit, the ex flame of former England football manager Sven-Goran Eriksson her presence on the island was the reason behind the the 27-year-old's trip.

 

"I am going to a few events that he is going to in Jamaica," she told the Daily Telegraph.

 

"Not with him. I will be a guest of my friend, but I will see him there.

 

"He is going because I am going," she said.

 

At the state dinner, Prince Harry gave a speech, in which he spoke of his "wonderful" grandmother Queen Elizabeth.

 

The Prince's tour of the Caribbean Commonwealth countries is to mark her upcoming Diamond Jubilee.

 

He borrowed a lyric from a Bob Marley song while giving his speech.

 

"I count it a great privilege to be standing here tonight, representing The Queen in Jamaica on her Diamond Jubilee," he said.

 

"Her Majesty has asked me to extend her great good wishes to you all, and is sorry that she can't be here - so you're stuck with me... but don't worry, cos every liddle ting gonna be aright.

 

"'It is many years since The Queen first came to Jamaica - 59, in fact. Ever since then, this island and its people have retained a very special place in her heart.

 

"Your vibrancy and vigour, your wonderful welcome to visitors and your island's natural beauties - all combine to make Jamaica unique.

 

"As a representative of the younger generation, I see fully what my Grandmother means.

 

"This is truly an exciting place to be. Jamaicans are exciting people to be around - especially when they run the 100 metres in 9.58," he added. (ANI)
