Mum edits my Twitter posts, says Jermain Defoe

London, Mar 6 (ANI): Jermain Defoe has revealed that he gets his Twitter posts checked by his mum as he wants his tweets to be "sensible".

Sandra, 47, edits everything the English striker writes on the social networking site.

Defoe, who has been linked to X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, 23, revealed his Twitter secret to BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Ian Payne, 49, the Daily Star reported.

"I only ever say sensible things. My mum edits them," Defoe said.

This may apparently explain why he mentioned his mum on February 29 when he revealed in a tweet that he was "blown away" by leap year marriage proposals via the site.

"I'll let you know which one I choose to accept later," he wrote.

But he swiftly added: "PS: Mum I'm only joking." (ANI)
