Santorum leading White House race in Ohio with 35% votes: Poll

Washington, Sat, 03 Mar 2012 ANI

Washington, Mar 3(ANI): A new poll has shown former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum leading by 35 percent to 31 percent over former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in Ohio for the White House race.

The Quinnipiac University poll was conducted following Romney's victories in the Arizona and Michigan primaries earlier this week.

Romney was trailing Santorum by seven points before Arizona and Michigan contests in the same poll.

"At this point, the Buckeye State is too close to call and is clearly a two-man race between Sen. Rick Santorum and Gov. Mitt Romney," the New York Daily News quoted Quinnipiac University Polling Institute's Assistant Director Peter A. Brown, as saying.

The poll showed House Speaker Newt Gingrich at third place in Ohio with 17 percent support, and Texas Representative Ron Paul placed last at 12 percent votes.

The poll also found that a third of Ohioans said they still might change their choices for the presidential candidate, ahead of the Super Tuesday, when 10 states will hold primaries and caucuses. (ANI)
