Washington , Fri, 02 Mar 2012 ANI

Washington, Mar 2 (ANI): Dutch Prince Johan Friso was transferred to a hospital in London on Thursday, two weeks after he suffered brain damage in a skiing accident in Austria.

The 43-year-old royal was caught up in an avalanche at the Austrian resort of Lech, while skiing off piste, last month and was taken to a hospital in Innsbruck, where doctors declared that he was in a coma and unlikely to ever regain consciousness.

Friso, son of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, has now been transferred to the private Wellington Hospital in London to continue treatment.

"His Royal Highness Prince Friso arrived today (01Mar12) in London, where he has been living for many years. Wellington Hospital was recommended by experts. Considering his condition, Prince Friso will receive the best possible treatment there," Contactmusic quoted a statement from the Dutch royal family.

The prince's wife and two daughters have joined him in London. (ANI)
