Goa polls: BJP asks EC to deploy CRPF personnel to monitor monetary transactions

Panaji , Tue, 28 Feb 2012 ANI

Panaji, Feb 28 (ANI): With barely a few days left for the Goa polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday appealed to the Election Commission to deploy Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel to keep an eye on monetary transactions that could take place ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

"There should be proper restrictions on vehicular movement in remote areas over the next two days through CRPF personnel. This would help in checking the movement of money," said BJP leader Gopalkrishna Prabhu Parrikar.

"We have also said that there is a possibility of money transaction through security vehicles. So that should be checked and rotated and those vehicles, which do not follow the rules, their security identity must be made invalid," he added.

Polling in Goa, which is one of the five states due to hold elections this year, will be held in a single phase on March 3.

The counting of votes will be held on March 6. (ANI)
