Kevin Costner believes he should have 'saved' Whitney Houston

London, Sun, 19 Feb 2012 ANI

London, Feb 19 (ANI): Kevin Costner, who delivered a moving address at Whitney Houston's funeral on Saturday, said earlier that he "let her down" and should have saved her.

Costner was Houston's co-star in the pop star's 1992 movie debut 'The Bodyguard' and also the producer of the film. He released a statement before attending his friend's funeral in which he seemingly blamed herself for her death.

"I let her down. I should have been there and I wasn't and now for the rest of my life I will have to live with that pain. I saved her then, I should have saved her now," the Mirror quoted him as saying.

He was referring to his role as her bodyguard in their movie together, which went on to become a huge hit and also became famous for the songs Houston sang.

"She was my one true love. I still have 'I Will Always Love You' as my ringtone and I count it as a badge of honour every time I get mocked for it," he said. (ANI)
