BJP leader Malhotra demands strengthening of intelligence, internal security in Delhi

New Delhi, Fri, 17 Feb 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Feb.17 (ANI): Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, has in a statement, demanded that the Central Government and the Delhi Government take steps to strengthen intelligence and internal security in view of the recent terrorist attack in the national capital.

Malhotra said that after every terrorist attack, the government announces plans of taking effective steps to check the same, but then it goes into deep slumber.

Inspite of repeated announcements and promises, he said that CCTV cameras could not be installed in crowded markets, slums and other places.

Wherever CCTV cameras have been installed, the same has been found to be not in working condition, he claimed.

He accused the government of spending millions of rupees on various insignificant projects, but being careless about maintaining law and order.

Malhotra said that due to its appeasement policy and elections in various states, the government was deliberately showing a reluctance to dismantle terrorist hideouts.

He accused th police of avoiding taking effective steps against terrorist elements.

He also expressed his concern over the weaknesses that emerged from a mock drill conducted across the captal earlier this week by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). (ANI)
